The Guadalupe Mountains are a mountain range in the U.S. state of Texas and southeastern New Mexico. The highest mountain, the Guadalupe Peak is with its 2667 meters the highest point in Texas. The Guadalupe Mountains are located in the far west of the state, on the border of New Mexico.

The Guadalupe Mountains National Park, to the Guadalupe Mountains are today, was founded in 1972. The Guadalupe National Park is not to drive through by car. One can only explore the interior of the park on foot.

The vegetation in the canyon is a unique mix of desert plants and mountain forests. Here are cacti and agaves next to ferns, walnut and pine trees. The fauna is still quite intact. Foxes and coyotes live here as well as mountain lions, deer, hares and porcupines.
