Gualberto do Rosário

António Gualberto do Rosário ( born October 12, 1950) was from 2000 to 2001 Prime Minister of Cape Verde.

Political career

He was educated in Portugal. Following the resignation of Carlos Veiga on 29 July 2000, which wanted to apply to the Office of the President, in 2000 he was head of government on October 5. He was previously Minister of Agriculture and later Veiga's deputy. Like his predecessors, he belongs to the party, Movimento para a Democracia (MPD ), which ruled the country since democracy was established in 1991.

In the parliamentary elections on 14 January 2001, the former single party Partido Africano para a Independencia de Cabo Verde ( PAICV ) and its chairman José Maria Neves won on February 1, 2001 New prime minister. In August 2001, he resigned as head of the MPD.
