Guanare

Guanare on the map of Venezuela

Guanare is the capital of the state of Portuguesa in northwestern Venezuela.

It forms an eponymous district ( municipality ) in the year of 2001 had 157,400 inhabitants. Today, the city has more than 235,000 inhabitants.

Guanare located on the outskirts of the southwestern steppe level ( Llanos), near the beginning of the Andean slopes. A road connects it with the neighboring towns of San Carlos in the northeast, Barquisimeto beyond the mountains to the north and Barinas in the southwest.

The city thrives on agriculture and is a location of the agricultural university UNELLEZ. There are other universities.

The multi-purpose stadium " Coliseo Carl Herrera Allen" will hold approximately 7,500 spectators.
