Guangyuan
Guangyuan (Chinese广 元, Pinyin Guǎngyuán ) is a prefecture-level city in northeastern China's Sichuan province. It has an area of 16,314 square kilometers and counts 3,050,000 inhabitants ( 2004). The capital and seat of government is the city district Lizhou ( the former City Shizhong District (downtown ) ). The Baoji - Chengdu railway line runs through its territory.
Located in the urban area of the rock sculptures Huangze Monastery (广 元 千佛崖 摩崖 造像), the Thousand Buddha Rock Carvings Guanyuan (广 元 千佛崖 摩崖 造像) and the Jianmen Shudao - site (剑门蜀道 遗址) are on the list of monuments of the people's Republic of China.
The city was taken on May 12, 2008 by a major earthquake.
Administrative Divisions
At county level, sets the prefecture-level city of Guangyuan composed of three districts and four counties. These are:
- Municipality Lizhou -利 州 区Lizhou Qū (formerly City Shizhong District (city center) -市 中 区Shizhong Qū ) 1482 km ², 460,000 inhabitants
- Municipality Zhaohua -昭化 区Zhaohua Qū 1435 km ², 240,000 inhabitants
- Municipality chaotian -朝天 区chaotian Qū 1618 km ², 210,000 inhabitants
- Circle Wangcang -旺苍县Wangcang Xiàn 2976 km ², 450,000 inhabitants
- Circle Qingchuan -青川县Qingchuan Xiàn 3269 km ², 250,000 inhabitants
- Circle Jiange -剑阁县Jiange Xiàn 3204 km ², 670,000 inhabitants
- Circle Cangxi -苍溪县Cangxi Xiàn 2330 km ², 770,000 inhabitants.
