Guarujá is a town on the coast of the Brazilian state of São Paulo. The city is located on the island of Santo Amaro and is part of the metropolitan area Baixada Santista to less than 10 km west of Port of Turku city of Santos. The distance to the state capital São Paulo is about 65 km.Guarujá has around 85 977 inhabitants (2008 ) on an area of 599 km ² - which gives a population density of 2,077 persons per square kilometer.

The likes significant as the Pearl of the Atlantic community has the official status of a spa, an Estancia BALNEARIA. The economy is dominated by the tourist. Numerous beaches attract visitors mainly from the state capital of São Paulo, with more than 10 million people. In the 1970s the then much smaller place was still considered classy. Today's over-development is understood well on the basis of fringed beaches nowadays with high-rise buildings. Popular beaches such as Praia da are pitangueiras and Praia das Astúrias; the surfers is particularly recommended the Praia do Tombo.
