Gudrun Berend

Gudrun Berend, 1978 married Wakan (* April 27, 1955 in Eisleben, † August 22, 2011 ibid ) was a German athlete who had - was successful in the 1970s in the 100 - meter hurdles - starting for the GDR. Her biggest success was the bronze medal at the European Championships 1978 ( 12.73 s ).

At the European Championships in 1974, she was fifth ( 13.14 s ), at the 1976 Olympic Games, she finished fourth ( 12.82 s ).

Gudrun Berend competed for the SC Chemie Halle. In her competition time, she was 1.68 m tall and 60 kg. Her daughter Katja Wakan is also a well-known athlete.
