Guéckédougou

Guéckédou (also Guékédou or Guéckédougou ) is a city in the south of Guinea, West Africa with about 5,600 inhabitants. It is located in the region Nzérékoré and is capital of the prefecture Guéckédou.

Guéckédou is close to the borders with Liberia and Sierra Leone. For this reason, it was affected by refugee flows from these countries because of the protracted civil wars. At times, attacked the struggles within the Sierra Leonean and Liberian civil war over on Guéckédou.

The city has a large weekly market, where traders from all over the southern Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Ivory Coast act.
