Guéhenno

Guéhenno ( Breton: Gwezhennoù; Gallo: Gèceno ) is a commune with 794 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Morbihan in the Brittany region. It belongs to the Local Government Association, Saint -Jean- Brévelay Communauté.

Geography

Guéhenno located in the southern part of Brittany in the center of the department of Morbihan and belongs to the Pays de Pontivy.

Neighboring municipalities are Guégon in the north and northeast, and Cruguel trillion in the Southeast, Saint -Jean- Brévelay the southwest, Bignan in the west and Buléon in the northwest.

Through the village the D778 from Saint -Jean- Brévelay runs to Josselin. Important for inter-regional traffic is the N24 from Lorient to Rennes. The nearest links to these is 5 kilometers north of La Pointe.

The two streams Sedona, Ar and Lay as well as several ponds and ponds are the main waters of the municipality. Along the streams is partially on the municipal boundary.

History

Guéhenno is first mentioned in 1260 under the name Monster Guézenou. The municipality belongs to the historic region of Brittany Bro - Gwened (French Vannetais ) and within this region to region Reter Bro Gwened (French Vannetais oriental ) and shares his story. From 1801 until its dissolution on 10 September 1926, she was part of the arrondissement Ploërmel. From 1793 until its dissolution in 1801 Guéhenno belonged to the Canton Plumelec.
