Gueïda Fofana

Gueïda Fofana; French pronunciation: [ ɡejda fɔfana ]; (Born 16 May 1991, Le Havre, France ) is a French footballer who plays for Olympique Lyon in the defensive midfield.

Le Havre AC

He began playing football at the Mont -Gaillard, but soon moved to Le Havre AC. There he went through all the youth teams. His competitive debut was Fofana on 18 August 2009 in the away defeat against FC Tours. He came on in the 77th minute. During the season, he secured a place in the defensive midfield. His first goal he scored in the 1-0 home win against AC Ajaccio on 27 November 2009. During the season 2010/11 he was in the Ligue 2 one of the top performers of his club. He helped out sometimes in defense. At the end of the season were three goals and three assists to book.

Olympique Lyon

Strong performance in Le Havre and participation in the U -20 World Cup, brought him quickly into the focus of larger clubs. For the 2011/2012 season, he joined the French top club Olympique Lyonnais for a transfer fee of 1.8 million euros and signed a contract until the summer of 2015. At Lyon he had especially short assignments, but also played UEFA Champions League. In the 2012/13 season as the undisputed Fofana was a regular for Lyon. Since the club qualified only for the UEFA Europa League, he came here for the first time used. On 4 October 2012, in the second group match of the Europa League against Hapoel Ironi Kiryat Shmona, Fofana scored two goals and shot his team to a 3:4 victory. These were his first goals for Lyon, but also his first goals at international package at club level.

National

Fofana went through all the junior national teams of France and participated in several youth tournaments. With the U-19, he won the 2010 U-19 Football Championship.

Play

Fofana is flexible on the defensive. He has high athletic ability and can have high rates duel. It is robust in duels and is technically shod. Due to its size, it is considered weak header, but does this through its enormous anticipation skills up for it.
