Guénin

Guénin ( Breton: Gwennin ) is a commune with 1594 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Morbihan in the Brittany region. It belongs to the Local Government Association, Pays de Baud.

Location

Guénin located in the southern part of central Brittany and part of the Pays de Pontivy.

Neighboring municipalities are Pluméliau in the north, Remungol in the northeast, Plumelin to the east, La Chapelle- Neuve in the southeast, baud the south and west and Saint -Barthélemy in the northwest.

In a north-south direction, the D leads 768 west of the community through the connection from Pontivy to Auray. South of Guénin runs the RN 24 from Lorient to Rennes. Through the middle of the town flows the river Evel.

The municipality belongs to the historic region of Brittany Bro - Gwened (French Vannetais ) and within this region to region Bro Baod (French Pays de Baud) and shares his story. The place name is derived from the Holy Saint- Guénin, who was Bishop of Vannes in the 7th century.
