Güer Aike Department

The department Güer Aike is located in the southeast of the province of Santa Cruz in southern Argentina and is one of the seven administrative units in the province.

It is bordered on the north by the departments Lago Argentino and CORPEN Aike, on the east by the Atlantic Ocean and to the south and west by Chile.

The capital of the department Güer Aike is Río Gallegos.

Population

According to estimates by the INDEC, the population increased from 92 878 inhabitants (2001) to 116 879 inhabitants in 2005.
