Guérin de Montaigu

Fra ' Garin de Montaigu (also Guerinus de Monteacuto, Garnius de Mounteagu ) was a nobleman from Montaigut -en- Combraille in the Auvergne, and from 1207 to 1227 / 28, the 14th Grand Master of the Knights Hospitaller.

In his time there was a very good relationship with the Knights Templar. There his brother Pierre / Pedro de Montaigu was Grand Master 1219-1232. He helped the Christians in Armenia against the Rum Seljuks ( Sultanate of Iconium ).

Garin de Montaigu rejected the participation from the Albigensian Crusade against the Cathars.

Under his leadership, the Order participated in the Fifth Crusade against the Ayyubids.
