The Güferhorn with 3'379 m above sea level. M. Height ( in older maps and guides 3,383 m above sea level. M. ) is the second highest mountain in the Alps Adula. It belongs to Adula Group, whose highest peak is the Rheinwaldhorn. This group is located between the Canton of Ticino and the canton of Graubünden. The Güferhorn is shown together with Zervreilahorn and Furggeltihorn on the etiquette of Valserwassers (see image in the infobox ).
Importance
The Güferhorn is a winter and summer often perpetrated tour destination. The starting point is usually the Läntahütte. The climbs in the summer, however, are not made easier by the glacier changes.
Name
Güfer is the plural of Gufer ( gross heap blocks in the Walser German, spoken north of Güferhorns the Vals ).
Glacier
The northern flank of the Güferhorns forms of extended Güfergletscher with a length of about 2 km.
National park
The Güferhorn to be part of the planned Adula. The summit would be on the edge of the core zone of the park.
First ascent
The first recorded ascent was in 1806 by the Disentis "Climbers monk " Placidus a Spescha about the Canaltal and Güfergletscher. This route is now uncommon because the glaciers retreated.
