Guggenhausen

Guggenhausen is the smallest municipality in the district of Ravensburg in Baden- Württemberg.

The municipality is a member of Gemeindeverwaltungsverband Altshausen based in Altshausen.

Structure

Besides Guggenhausen ( with about 20 houses including City Hall), the hamlets and farms yard, fountain, Egg, Haslach, Koenigsegg, Luegen, Muttenhaus and turning Reute belong to the community.

History

In the hamlets wells and Egg Celtic grave mounds were detected.

Guggenhausen was first mentioned in 1251 as Guginhusin a document, the name probably derives from the personal name Gucko. 1264 are assigned to the monastery Baindt donations Chamberlain Heinrich von Bigenburg of ownership in place.

The Koenigsegg Castle was the family seat of a branch of the lords of Fronhofen who called themselves from 1251 Lords of Königsegg, in the 14th century came into the possession of the whole place and over time, larger areas in the environment and in Aulendorf and between Oberstaufen and immenstadt acquired. They moved their residence mid-17th century by Königseggwald, their county fell in 1806 to the Kingdom of Württemberg, which is then assigned to the upper office Saulgau. The family castle in Königsegg was converted into a Hofgut in the 19th century, a chapel in the east wing with a stoup of the Renaissance remained. The Koenigsegg Castle was until 1850 part of the municipality Hoßkirch and has been with its eastern surroundings an exclave Guggenmusik Stockhausen.

Until 1972 Guggenhausen belonged to the district Saulgau, after its dissolution, the municipality on 1 January 1973 was part of the district of Ravensburg.

Coat of arms

The awarded on August 26, 1980 municipal coat of arms is reminiscent of the red and silver patches on the coat of arms of the Counts of Koenigsegg. The blue sign foot symbolizes with its waves the Guggenheim Hauser pond.

Mayor

Erich Köberle was confirmed on 9 November 2008, 84.8 percent of the vote unopposed as honorary mayor in office. He since 1993 the business of the community already. In the main office he is employed by the District Office of Biberach.

Economy and infrastructure

Guggenhausen is dominated by agriculture. Almost half of the municipal area is arable land, 195 ha are more permanent pasture; added about 70 ha of forest area.

In 1840 the Guggenheim Hauser pond has been created, on which a grinding mill and sawmill was operated. Today, the pond has a water area of 10.1 hectares and is used by sport fishermen.

Traffic

Guggenhausen is connected by bus with Wilhelm village, Ostrach, Altshausen and Bad Saulgau. The municipality is part of the Lake Constance - Upper Swabia Transport Association ( bodo ). Until 1971 the district Königsegg had a station on the railway line Altshausen Schwacke Reute.
