Guggisberg

Guggisberg ( [ ˌ ɡʊkis bɛrɡ ] ) is a municipality in the Bern-Mittelland administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

To Guggisberg include also the places reefs Matt, Schwendihotel, Kriesbaumen, Riedstätt, Kalchstätten, Hirschmatt - Laubbach, Riedacker, Sanger floor and Ottenleuebad. With the name Guggisberg exist a municipality, a civic community and a Reformed congregation.

Geography

Guggisberg is located in the foothills of the Alps, between black water and Sense. The main town of Guggisberg is located on 1115 m below the Guggershorn (1283 m). The highest point of the village is 2151 meters high Schibe, the deepest point is 708 m at the confluence of low Riedgraben and Sense. The very large municipal area is wooded to 40%.

History

The oldest preserved Attribution dated to the year 1148, as Guggisberg in a document by Pope Eugene III. is mentioned as Cucansperc. From 1423 Guggisberg falls by purchasing equally to Bern and Freiburg and stays there until the mediation of 1803.

The earliest mention of the Schafscheid ( festival / village festival ), an existing traditions to this day, is the year in 1662.
