Guides and Scouts Movement of Belgium

The association Guidisme et Scoutisme s Belgique/Gidsen- s Scoutsbeweging in België ASBL / VZW (GSB; Translation: Girl Scouts and Scouting in Belgium) is the umbrella organization of the Belgian Scouting. In the five member associations about 160,000 people are united.

The five member organizations are based on the language and religions. The scout groups in the German-speaking Community of Belgium are part of the French-speaking associations.

Specifically, the member associations:

  • In the French Community: Guides Catholiques de Belgique (GCB; Roman Catholic, about 25,000 members) (also for the German -speaking Community)
  • Les Scouts - Fédération des Scouts Baden -Powell de Belgique (Les Scouts, the Roman Catholic Church to be related approximately 50,000 members) (also for the German -speaking Community)
  • Scouts et Guides de Belgique Pluralistes ( SGP; interdenominational, about 4,000 members)
  • Scouts en Gidsen Vlaanderen ( SGV, formerly Vlaams Verbond van Katholieke Scouts en Meisjesgidsen, VVKSM, Roman Catholic, about 72,000 members)
  • FOS Open Scouting ( FOS; interdenominational, about 7,000 members)

As a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement ( WOSM ) and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts GSB represents its member organization in the World Scout Movement. Three of the organizations are connected two world associations, while for historical reasons Les Scouts belong only to WOSM and WAGGGS GCB only.
