Guidiguir is a rural municipality in the Department Gouré in Niger.

Geography

Guidiguir lies in the Sahel. The neighboring municipalities are Gouré in the northeast, Boune the southeast, Gouchi the southwest, Guidimouni in the west and Damagaram Takaya in the northwest. The municipality is divided into 78 administrative villages, 36 traditional villages, 17 hamlets and four bearings. The main town of the rural community is the administrative village Guidiguir.

History

The rural community Guidiguir went out in 2002 as part of a nationwide administrative reform of parts of the cantons Boune and Gouré.

Population

At the 2001 census Guidiguir had 32,710 inhabitants. For the year 2010 44.412 inhabitants were calculated. In Guidiguir members of the mainly agriculture based Kanuri subgroup Manga and specializing in Agropastoralismus Kanuri subgroup Dagra live.

Economy and infrastructure

The municipality is located in a zone is operated in the rain-fed agriculture. By Guidiguir the National road runs first on the market of Guidiguir is traded especially with baking soda, dates, and livestock that are sold to Zinder and Nigeria.
