Guido Agosti

Guido Agosti ( born August 11, 1901 in Forli, † June 2, 1989 in Milan ) was an Italian pianist.

Life

He studied from 1911 to 1914 piano at the Liceo Musicale in Bologna, his teachers were Bruno Mugellini, Ferruccio Busoni and Filippo Ivaldi. He also learned privately composing at Giacomo Benvenuti. After Agosti had completed his studies in philology Bologna, he was very successful concerts both at home and abroad. After his great career as a soloist, he taught from 1933 to 1949 at the conservatories in Venice, Rome and Milan.

After the end of World War II Agosti was head of a piano master class at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome. Since 1949 he leads master classes for piano at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena.

In 1967 he started again not to give concerts, but as a soloist. He founded a trio with Severino Gazzeloni ( flutist ) and Enrico Mainardi ( cellist ). He also became a piano partner of Quartetto di Roma and juror of international piano competitions.

His students included Maria Tipo, Yonty Solomon, Leslie Howard, Martin Jones, Donna Amato, Vladimir Krpan, Hamish Milne, Dag Achatz, Sergio Calligaris, Raymond Lewenthal, Kun -Woo Paik, Daniel Pollack, William Corbett Jones, Angela Brownridge, Ian Munro, Geneviève Calame, Rita Wolfensberger, Jürgen Schröder and Eric van Griensven.
