Guido " Diego " Ulrich Buchwald ( born January 24, 1961 in West Berlin) is a former German football player and current coach. He is considered one of Germany's best defensive midfielders in the history.

As the culmination of Buchwald's career is considered to be use in the final of the FIFA World Cup 1990 as an opponent of Diego Maradona. He was twice German Champions ( 1984 and 1992 ). Today Buchwald serves on the Board of Trustees of the youth football foundation.
