Guido Fantoni

Guido Fantoni ( born February 4, 1919 in Bologna, † 28 December 1974) was an Italian wrestler. He was winner of the bronze medal at the 1948 Olympic Games in London in Greco-Roman wrestling in the heavyweight division.

Career

Guido Fantoni was born in Bologna and began as a teenager with the rings. Since the early 1940s he was one of the best Italian wrestlers light heavyweight and heavyweight in Greco- Roman style. His debut on the international wrestling mat he gave at the 1948 Olympic Games in London in the heavyweight division. He won there with two wins the bronze medal.

In 1951 he won at the Mediterranean Games in Alexandria in the heavyweight division, while it remained at the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki with only one win without a medal. Guido Fantoni but won at the World Championships in 1953 in Naples in the heavyweight division once again a medal, the bronze again.

After he retired from international competition scene.
