Guido Poppe

Guido T. Poppe (born 1954 ) is a Belgian malacologist.

Life and career

Poppe lives in the Philippines and researched and documented, especially the marine snails and other molluscs in the country. His body collection Phillipine collection of Conchology, Inc. includes 25,000 copies, of which about 2000 of undescribed species. He has published numerous books and is the Malacological journal Visaya out. Although without academic training, he wrote the first scientific description of more than 200 molluscs. About 30 species have been named in honor of him.
