Guidobaldo II della Rovere, Duke of Urbino

Guidobaldo II della Rovere ( born April 2, 1514 Urbino, † September 28, 1574 ) was Duke of Urbino, son of Francesco Maria della Rovere, and Eleanor of Gonzaga.

Life

1532 Guidobaldo took part in the military parade of all the troops of the Republic of Venice, whose commander was his father Francesco Maria. At the age of 20 he married Giulia Varano, the daughter of Signore of Camerino, to extend the sphere of influence of the Della Rovere in the Marche. In 1546 he received the command of the Venetian army.

Family and descendants

1547 died Giulia Varano, with whom he had the daughter of Virginia Feltria. A year later he married his second wife Vittoria Farnese, daughter of the Duke Pier Luigi Farnese of Parma. From this connection comes his successor Francesco Maria II
