Guigues VIII of Viennois

Guigues VIII (* 1309, † 1333) was Dauphin of Viennois 1318-1333 He was the son of the Dauphin Jean II (House of La Tour-du- Pin) and Beatrice of Hungary ( Anjou ). .

He was nine years old when his father died in 1318. The regency took over for him in 1323 to his paternal uncle, Henri de la Tour -du-Pin, Bishop of Metz. 1325 he was at the age of 16 years at Varey near Pont- d'Ain a clear victory over Savoy thereof; nevertheless continued his involvement with these neighbors until his death.

The French influence was reinforced. During his reign and by his marriage with Isabella, daughter of the French king, Philip V. This put him at the Battle of Cassel ( 1328 ) to the command of the 7th Corps For his performance in this battle him gave the king the Maison aux Piliers on the Place de Grève in Paris.

He died during a Savoyard siege of Castle La Perrière in the year 1333. He was succeeded by his brother Dauphin Humbert II, 16 years later, the future King Charles V transferred the county.
