Guilers

Guilers ( Breton Gwiler - Leon ) is a commune in the Finistère department in Brittany with 7430 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011). It belongs to the district Brest, in the canton of Brest- Cavale - Blanche- Bohars - Guilers and community association Brest métropole océane.

Geography and description

The municipality is located in the west of Brittany in the metropolitan area of ​​the city of Brest. Both the city center of Brest and the Rade de Brest are located only a few kilometers ( miles) south-east, the Atlantic Ocean coast at the beginning of the English Channel about 18 km north.

The village is characterized by vast single family houses, which reflects the sudden increase in the population in the second half of the 20th century (1968 Guilers had only 1879 inhabitants). After the Base Mérimée Ministry of Culture there are no culturally significant objects in place.

Transport links

The nearest slopes to the highway-like -laned roads E 50 (Rennes - Brest) and E 60 (Nantes- Brest) are located a few kilometers west of the village on the north-eastern outskirts of Brest, where they meet. From here the route Departmental D5 to Plouarzel leads near the west coast, where it is Guilers immediately southwest tangent and expanded to four lanes here as a bypass road.

The Gare de Brest railway station is TGV Atlantique station and regional train station in the net of the TER Bretagne.

The Brest airport is located about 10 km to the west.
