Guilford County, North Carolina

Guilford County is a county located in the state of North Carolina of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Greensboro, which was named in the American Revolutionary War after Nathaniel Greene, a general.

Geography

The County is located north-west of the geographic center of North Carolina, is located in the north about 40 miles from Virginia and has an area of ​​1703 square kilometers, of which 21 square kilometers are water surface. History

Guilford County was formed in 1770 from parts of Rowan County. It was named for Francis North, 1st Earl Guilford.
