The Guilford Township is one of 23 townships in Jo Daviess County in the northwest corner of the U.S. state of Illinois.

Geography

The Guilford Township is located in northwestern Illinois. The border with Iowa, which is formed from the Mississippi River, located approximately 20 km to the west. The border with Wisconsin is located 10 north.

The Guilford Township is located at 42 ° 24'50 " north latitude and 90 ° 17'24 " west longitude and extending over 96.72 km ², spread over 96.24 km ² land and 0.48 km ² water surface. To the west of the township is the Lake Galena, a reservoir of Smallpox Creek, whose dam is located in the neighboring East Galena Township.

The Guilford Township borders within the Jo Daviess County to the northwest by the Council Hill Township, in the northeast on the Scales Mound Township, on the east by the Thompson Township, to the southeast by the Woodbine Township, on the south by the Elizabeth Township, to the southwest by the Rice Township and on the west by East Galena Township.

Traffic

With the exception of a very short section of U.S. Highway 20 in the southwest, there are no national highways in Guilford Township. The township is traversed by a series partly unpaved County Roads and other minor roads.

The nearest airports are about 50 km to the west located in Iowa Dubuque Regional Airport and about 45 km to the north in Wisconsin Platteville Municipal Airport.
