Guilherme Rebelo de Andrade

Guilherme Rebelo de Andrade ( born May 10, 1891 in Ericeira † 4 October 1969 in Lisbon ) was a Portuguese architect.

Career

Andrade created during the time of the Estado Novo in particular together with his brother Carlos numerous public buildings. For the World's Fairs in 1922 in Rio de Janeiro and in 1929 in Seville he designed with him the Portuguese Pavilion. Beginning in 1939, the monumental fountain Fonte Luminosa was in Lisbon.

In 1931 he won the competition for the construction of the Palácio da Agricultura in Lisbon. In the same year he created the Monumento aos Mortos since the Great War on the Avenida da Liberdade. Other buildings are the Portuguese embassies in London ( 1940), Madrid ( 1942) and Rio de Janeiro ( 1946).

For the house Avenida Columbano Bordalo Pinheiro n º 52 in Lisbon in 1939 he was with his brother received the Prémio Valmor.
