Guillaume Gille ( born July 12, 1976 in Valence ) is a French handball player. He is an officer of the French National Order of Merit.

Career

Guillaume Gille Chambery Savoie HB plays on the center and both backcourt positions.

His career began with the throwing left-handed right in the French town of Valence in the HBC Loriol, where his parents were already active. Together with his brother Bertrand Gille 1996, he moved to Chambéry Savoie HB. With Chambery Savoie HB 2001, he was champion of France and 2002 League Cup winner.

From 1 July 2002, Guillaume and Bertrand Gille played for HSV Hamburg in the Bundesliga. There won Guillaume Gille 2006 the DHB Cup at the Final Four final match in the domestic Color Line Arena in Hamburg and the 2007 Cup Winners' Cup. In the season 2010/11 he became German champion. In the summer of 2012 he returned to France, together with Bertrand at Chambéry Savoie HB, where the youngest brother Benjamin also plays.

With the French national team was Guillaume Gille World Champion 2001 in their own country. In the following World Cups 2003 and 2005 he won bronze. In 2006 he was European champion by defeating the reigning world champions Spain. It was followed by the most successful years. At the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, at the 2009 World Championships, the European Championships in 2010, the 2011 World Championships and the 2012 Olympics he won the gold medal. After 308 international matches, in which he scored 678 goals, he ended his international career in September 2012.
