Guilvinec

Guilvinec ( Ar Gelveneg Breton ) is a commune in the Finistère department in 2934 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011).

Location

The place is located in the southwest of Brittany on the Atlantic coast. Quimper is located 25 km north, 67 km north of Brest and Paris, about 500 km to the east (in straight line ).

Economy and infrastructure

The economy of Guilvinec is dominated by fishing. Here is one of the most important fishing ports of Brittany. After Boulogne -sur -Mer, the largest amount was here in 2011 sold to caught fish ( 17,985 t), the value of the fish sold in other Brittany ports far exceeded ( 65.825 million euros ).

In Quimper is the next exit on the highway E 60 / N 165 (Brest -Nantes ) and a regional train station in the predominantly parallel railway line.

The train station of Brest is the end of TGV Atlantique to Paris. The next regional airports are the Lorient South Brittany Airport at Lorient and Brest airport near Brest.
