Guitarist#Rolling Stone

This list contains a ranking of the 100 best guitarists to date, as determined by Rolling Stone magazine and published in 2003 in the U.S. edition of the magazine under the title 100 Greatest Guitarists. It includes guitarists from all genres of popular music, such as Pop, blues or rock.

The list is not only mentioned in various biographies of individual guitarists, it is used in the scientific literature to compile rankings of individual genres and to highlight the importance of individual guitarists within a genre.

Criticism

The music magazine Venus Zine criticized the fact that fewer than 100 participants, only two women are listed and published its own list of the best guitarists ( "The Greatest Female Guitarists of All Time ").
