Gulab Jamun

Gulab jamun (Hindi: गुलाब जामुन, Urdu: گلاب جامن ) is a classic Indian dessert. These are deep-fried dough balls around in flavored sugar syrup. Main component of the dough is Khoa or Khoya ( boiled creamy milk). Alternatively, milk powder or cottage cheese is often used. In Indian grocery stores, the dough balls are sometimes available as a finished product. Similar, but partially made from other ingredients are Rasgulla (instead Khoa paneer is used) and Ras Malai.
