Guldborgsund

Geographical location

The Guldborgsund is a Danish waters separating the islands of Falster and Lolland each other. It connects Smålandsfarvandet (German: Smålandshavet ) in the north with the Bay of Mecklenburg in the south. With a water depth of at least 6 feet of the north side for medium vehicles is navigable and is used as a waterway to the port of Nykøbing. The southern part of Guldborgsunds is navigable only for yachts and other small vehicles. The Guldborgsund is being crossed by Guldborgsundtunnelen in the course of the E 47 as well as from the Kong Frederik IX 's Bro (English: King Frederik IX - d - Bridge ), a road and rail bridge in Nykøbing, and the Guldborgsundbroen, a road bridge in Guldborg crossed.
