Gulf Times

The Gulf Times is next to the Qatar Tribune and The Peninsula one of the three English-language dailies in Qatar. The newspaper was founded on 1 June 1978 by the Gulf Publishing & Printing Company in Doha. Two months later, the Ministry of Information approved the application for a newspaper and sparked a license. The editorial began with twelve employees. The first issue of the newspaper was published on December 10, 1978 and appeared at that time as a weekly newspaper. Since 21 February 1981, the newspaper published daily. During the 1980s, approximately 300 people were already employed by the company.

In 1995, the Gulf Times by a tabloid to broadsheet format converted and the amount of content was significantly increased.
