Gumby

Gumby (The Gumby Show) is an American children's television program that was first shown in 1957. The eponymous protagonist of Claymation cartoons is a green figure in clay, which is accompanied by an orange horse named Pokey.

Gumby creator Art Clokey had been collected in 1955 his short film Gumbasia experience with Claymation before 1956, the figure Gumby for the NBC Howdy Doody invented. 1957 Gumby got his own series, the 1962 and 1966/67, supplemented by additional consequences. 1988 was a new Gumby series, in addition to newly produced films, old material was re- used, but the soundtrack ( both music and dialogue ) has been replaced. In total there are 223 Gumby episodes.

1995 was the feature film Gumby and his friends ( Gumby: The Movie ).

In Germany, the original series 1961/62 was shown on ARD. In the 1980s, a videotape was released with a number of selected episodes and 2003, the feature film from the year 1995 was released on DVD. Nevertheless Gumby remained relatively unknown in Germany.
