Geography
Geographical Location
Gundel home lies in the Upper Franconia - West region. The community is located about seven kilometers north of Bamberg Bamberg on the cross, the intersection of the motorways A 70 and A 73

There is only the district and the community part Gundelsheim.

Neighboring municipalities are (from north clockwise beginning ): Memmelsdorf, Bamberg and Hall city.
History
Gundel home belonged to the Bishopric of Bamberg and from 1500 also the Frankish kingdom circle. With the Imperial Diet of 1803 the city became part of Bavaria. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community. In 1962, the church was built Seven Sorrows of Mary in Gundel home.
On 1 July 1972, the district Hirsch Knock at Bamberg was ceded.

Mayor since 1 May 2008 Jonas Merzbacher (SPD). At 24 he was the assumption of office of the second youngest mayor in Germany. He won the 2008 in the runoff with 68.23 % of the vote against Norbert Mittmann (CDU community) and was confirmed in 2014 in the first round with 70.97 % with a rival candidate in office. Merzbacher's predecessor, Hans -Jürgen Grieger (CSU ). This in turn was the successor to Gerhard cod ( Civil Union) in 2002. Second Mayor Gabriele Gottschall (Citizens Community ).

Education
In Gundelsheim there is a kindergarten with 125 seats and the elementary school with nine teachers and 136 students. The daycare St. Mary's offers children a care in four groups, including a nativity group for children aged eight weeks to three years and three groups for children aged two to six years.

Economy, agriculture and forestry
