Gundheim

Gundheim is a municipality in the district Alzey- Worms in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Westhofen.

Geography

The wine-growing village located in Rheinhessen. To Gundheim includes the living space " nursery ".

Neighboring townships and towns are: Westhofen, Worms Abenheim, Mörstadt, Florsheim -Dalsheim and Bermersheim.

History

Gundheim was first mentioned in 774 in a deed for the kingdom of Lorsch documented. In the 15th century, the place in the possession of the Palatinate, 1700 enfeoffed Elector Johann Wilhelm came to the Barons of Johann Erwin Greiffenclau to Vollrads with village bailiff and court Gundheim. This family then remained until the end of the 18th century in the possession of the place.

After taking the left bank of the Rhine by French revolutionary troops (1794 ) Gundheim belonged from 1798 to 1814 for Canton Pfeddersheim in the department of Thunder Mountain. Because of the Congress of Vienna (1815 ) agreements came the Rheinhessen region and thus Gundheim 1816 Grand Duchy of Hesse. After the dissolution of Rhinehessen cantons the place came in 1835 to the recently completed Worms, to which he belonged until 1969.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms shows the claw of a bird of prey, according to the noble Greiffenclau that Gundheim in 1699 received a fief. The crest of the family was a golden grasping claw with silver - blue plumage.
