Gunilla Svärd

Gunilla Svärd ( born March 26, 1970 in Uppsala ) is a former Swedish orienteer. Svärd is two-time world and European champion.

Svärd occupied at the first Junior World Championships in 1990 in their home country to fifth place in the individual competition of the juniors. She won in 1992, the O- rings at the Swedish Championships for women it was clear to a number of times to place on the podium and in 1995 she was finally Swedish champion in long distance running and the night orienteering. It was now for the first time used the age of 25 in a World Cup. In 1996 she ran her first World Cup season, which they finished in first place. In 1997, she left the club and went to OK Måsen IF Thor. At the 1997 World Championships in Norway it was long distance and was fifth with Anna Bogren, Cecilia Nilsson and Marlena Jansson World Champion in the relay. In the following three world championships, she won an integral part of the Swedish women's relay bronze medal and two silver medals. In individual sections, it celebrated in 2001 in Tampere World Cup bronze at the middle distance and 2002 European champion on the middle distance. With the Swedish squadron it was 2004 again both European and World Champion.

In Swedish Championships Svärd won eight titles: 1995 on long distance and night skiing, 1996 Night Run, 1999 Night Run and in the relay, at the 2002 Short Distance, 2004 at the Classic distance, and again in 2008 with the relay.
