Gunnar Heiberg

Gunnar Heiberg ( born November 18, 1857 in Oslo (then Christiania ), † February 22, 1929 ibid ) was a Norwegian playwright and journalist.

Influenced by Henrik Ibsen and Émile Zola Heiberg devoted himself to the theater in the movement of Expressionism. His provocative intentions led to several performances of his plays have been booed. Among his better-known pieces include Aunt Ulrikke (1884), Kong Midas (1890), balconies (1894 ) and Kjærlighedens Tragedie ( 1904).

From 1882 he worked intermittently as a journalist and theater critic for Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet or as Verdens Gang. From 1884 to 1888 he headed the theater Den Nationale Scene in Bergen.
