Gunnar Johansson (footballer)

Gunnar Johansson (* February 29, 1924 in Hjärtum, † February 14, 2003 in Aix -en- Provence ) is a former Swedish football player and coach.

Career

Johansson, who had come from domestic fünftklassigen IF, debuted in 1949 for GAIS Gothenburg in Allsvenskan. The midfielder came on 14 campaigns, but remained without a goal. In 1950 he was awarded a professional contract with Olympique Marseille. Until 1958, he played for the club in the top notch Division 1 Together with his compatriots Dan Ekner and Gunnar Andersson he made there in the season 1950/51 the " Jo-An -Da " trio. Then he was a year player-coach at AS Aix in Division 2

Johansson was also the Swedish national team. For the country selection, he participated in the World Cup 1950. In the final round of the tournament, he came twice to use and was able to celebrate the third place after a 3-1 victory against Spain.

Shortly before his 79th birthday died Johansson on February 14 in Aix -en- Provence.
