Gunningen

Gunningen is a municipality in the district of Tuttlingen in Baden- Württemberg. The municipality Gunningen except the homonymous village There are no other villages.

Geographical location

Gunningen is on the Baar plateau at the foot of the 912 meter high Hohenkarpfen, located about 5 km from Trossingen.

Neighboring communities

The municipality is bordered to the north by the city Spaichingen, to the east by Hausen ob Verena, to the south by the district of the municipality Oberflacht Seitingen- Oberflacht and to the west by Stockhausen and the Trossinger district shura.

History

Gunningen was first mentioned on March 30, 797 in a deed of gift to the monastery of St. Gall. His story, however, was closely linked with that of the monastery of St. Georgen. Since the 11th century were called donations to the monastery, which had the whole place later. After the Reformation, he belonged to the Monastery of St. Georgen successor in Villingen. Because of belonging to the County of Hohenberg, thereby leading Austria but Gunningen remained Catholic. In 1806 the village of Württemberg.
