Günther Rodehau

Gerhard Gunther Rodehau ( born July 6, 1959 in Meissen ) is a former track athlete, the starting of the German Democratic Republic European Championship fourth in the hammer throw was twice.

The thrower from SC Einheit Dresden stepped 1979-1990 to DDR championships and launched between 1980 and 1990 in 14 countries fighting for the GDR. His first major international championships was the 1983 World Championships in Helsinki. With 77.08 meters he was in fifth place best German, but was about two meters behind the medal places. At the European Championships in 1986 in Stuttgart, the field sorted into three classes. In the first three places, the representative of the Soviet Union lay with lengths of 82 meters and more, in positions four to nine ranked with widths between 79.84 m and 75.36 m, the launcher from the two German states and behind it were the representatives of the other countries. Gunther Rodehau was 79.84 m with the best German. 1987 at the World Championships in Rome, ranked Rodehau with 76.18 m in the preliminaries ninth place. A year later, at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul threw Rodehau in qualifying 78,12 m. In the preliminaries, he left in twelfth with 72.36 m. At the European Championships in 1990 in Split last time stepped up to the national team of East Germany. He solved not only Matthias Moder as DDR - record holder from, but also surpassed Christoph Sahners all-German record by over a meter. Even 2012 is Rodehau with its width in fourth place of eternal German leaderboard behind Ralf Haber, Heinz Weis and Karsten Kobs.

Gunther Rodehau had a competition weight of 116 kg at a height of 1.79 m. In the becoming public knowledge after the fall of documents to the state doping in the GDR was found in the doped athletes also the name of Rodehau. The qualified automotive locksmith ended his sports career in 1992 and started at a car dealership.
