Günther Viezenz
Günther Viezenz ( born 1 February 1921 in Göhlenau; † January 14, 1999 in Cologne ) was a German officer, last colonel of the Bundeswehr. Viezenz is the most decorated soldier of the Wehrmacht, which relates to the tank destruction badge. He destroyed 21 enemy tanks as a lone fighter.
Life
Viezenz fought in World War II and was awarded on January 7, 1944 as a First Lieutenant and Chief of the 10th Company of the Grenadier - Regiment 7 with the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. He ended the war as a captain.
On April 1, 1956 Viezenz joined the Bundeswehr. He retired on 20 March 1980 as a colonel.
