Gürkan is a Turkish male first name, the meaning is given as " vivid, full-blooded person ." It can also occur as a family name. Maybe, but these are just a folk etymology, as the name actually derives from the following historical tracks, but they are not Turkish, but Mongolian origin.
Origin
" Gurkāni " - گوركانى - is the form of the original Mongolian word iranisierte kürügän and means " son ". The title is attested as "fu ma" and with the same meaning in Chinese and was worn by Mongol princes, who were married to a descendant of Genghis Khan.
Gurchan was also the title of the rulers of the Kara- Kitai. In describing the conquest of Bukhara in 1220 by the Mongols, the historian Ǧuwaini mentions a Mongolian defector named Gurchan.
