GURPS

GURPS ( Generic Universal Role Playing System for, dt: " generic, universal RPG system" ) is a widely used pen & paper role-playing game system, the first edition was published in 1986 by Steve Jackson. It is marketed by Steve Jackson Games.

" Universal Generic " means here that the set of rules is very general. It is associated with a specific role -playing genre. From fantasy over science fiction to historical scenarios it can be used for all kinds of settings. Additional control modules allow you to configure certain worlds and situations in detail and to combine with the basic rules, so that a control system can be generated that corresponds to the individual wishes of the playgroup.

To achieve this goal, GURPS provides a set of rules for the various game mechanics of character creation on magic, superhero powers and psi powers to combat and vehicle rules that can be combined all together.

GURPS is reputed to be useful in the classification of GNS theory especially for simulationistische RPGs. But other game modes are thus feasible.

Game system

Characteristic is the restriction to three six-sided dice ( 3d6 ) for all litters, except the damage. The eyes of these figures three dice will be added. This corresponds to the stochastic convolution of three discrete uniform distribution with an expected value of 3.5. The expected value of the total number of eyes is therefore given as 3 times 3.5, which is reflected in the centering of all properties of the characters to the value of 10 around.
