History

The Gurtenfestival is a first time in 1977 and since the early 1990s, held annually four-day ( three-day pre-2004) music festival on the hill of the Swiss capital Bern, the belts. The program consists of bands, which mainly come from the rock and ( alternative ) pop scene in the early years, especially folk music, eventually the whole spectrum of blues was covered up hip-hop. Always there, current national sizes of the Swiss music scene.

From a small alternative culture and folk festival in the summer of 1977 (International Folk Festival Bern - belts 2/3 July 1977), the Gurtenfestival developed within 14 years of musical big event and is one of the largest and most media attention music festivals in Switzerland. The Gurtenfestival succeeded by a varied program, the unique location and the always peaceful mood to find a loyal clientele. With the spectators, it also attracted more international top acts on the straps. As of 1991, the Gurtenfestival was conducted under a new organization as a commercial open-air event. Since 1999, the Gurtenfestival of the Berne Event Appalooza productions company is organized, which also operates the concert venue Bierhübeli. In 2006, the festival was not sold out for the first time in this decade and deficit. In addition to the existing main and Zeltbühne the forest stage was re-introduced in 2007, which was part of the festival last 1998. At this stage artists will provide a platform for Swiss ( young).
