Gustav Cohn

Gustav Cohn ( born December 12, 1840 in Marie Werder, West Prussia, † September 17, 1919 in Göttingen ) was a German economist.

Life

Cohn received his doctorate in 1866 for Dr. phil. in Leipzig and attended the Statistical Seminar in Berlin. Then he worked as a lecturer in Heidelberg and in 1871 professor at the Polytechnic Baltic in Riga. In 1872 he was a founder of the "Association for Social Policy ". Between 1872 and 1873, Cohn worked as social affairs editor for the " Frankfurter Zeitung ". From 1875 he taught at the Polytechnic in Zurich and from 1884 to 1918 he was a full professor at the University of Göttingen.

Since 1892 he was a member of the Imperial Commission inquiry into stock market science.
