Gustav Lange

Gustav Lange ( born August 13, 1830 in Schwerstedt; † July 20, 1889 in Wernigerode ) was a German composer of the Romantic period.

Life and work

Gustav Lange has been taught as a child by his father in piano and organ. Later he studied at Erfurt Conservatory piano, organ, bass and general composition. Encouraged by his success as a composer in the 1860s, long composed of the 500 piano works, including fantasies, marches, Polonaises, Mazurkas and transcriptions of famous works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Anton Rubinstein, among others Most of his pieces are of salon music associate and thus have a not-too- high difficulty on. The piano piece edelweiss (Op. 31) and the Flower Song (Op. 39) are still the best known works of the composer.
