Gustav Neuring

Gustav Neuring ( born September 14, 1879 in Harburg, † April 12, 1919 in Dresden ) was a German politician.

Life

Neuring belonged to the SPD and was for 15 years a union member. After the November Revolution of 1918, he was first Chairman of the Workers 'and Soldiers' Council, then people's deputy and finally Minister of Military Affairs. He was commissioned to organize a people's army. In March 1919 he presented in collaboration with the Federation of active officers of the old army, the " regimental order ", which was used in Pirna in the violent dissolution of the workers 'and soldiers' councils.

After war-disabled and wounded had heard of the Dresden hospitals that their pensions should be reduced, they threw him on 12 April by the bridge in front of his ministry in the Elbe River and shot him when he tried to swim ashore. A day later, the state of siege was proclaimed. Fourteen days after the lynching Bruno Cemetery Neurings stepped to follow.

Neurings grave is located on the Urnenhain Tolkewitz in Dresden.
