Gustav Trunk

Gustav Ludwig Josef Trunk ( born July 24, 1871 in Waldprechtsweier, † April 23, 1936 in Karlsruhe ) was a German lawyer and politician of the Centre Party.

Life and work

Trunk was born as a son of the teacher Valentin Magnus Trunk. After the completion of the sixth grade of primary school, he joined the Lendersche educational institution at the age of 12 years. Since this was to visit at that time only to Untersekunda, he left Sasbach in 1888 and finished his high school years in Rastatt. After graduation he studied law in Berlin and Heidelberg. There he became a member of K.D.St.V. Arminia Heidelberg. After receiving his doctorate in 1900 he settled down as a lawyer in Karlsruhe.

His first job as a legal intern in the trunk came Plankstadtan. He married in 1897 Emma Eppel from Baden -Baden and moved together with her in the same year his first apartment in the city hall in Wolfach. During his job as usher he had a son and a daughter.

Trunk joined the Centre Party on, probably due to the strong influence of his example Franz Xaver Lenders. Later he became chairman in Karlsruhe. From 1911 to 1919 he was member of the Council of the city of Karlsruhe. From 1919 to 1930 he was a member of the Baden Landtag.

Trunk was 1918/19, Minister of Food Engineering and from 1919 to 1929 Minister of Justice in Baden. Of 14 August 1920 to 23 November 1921 23 November 1925 to the November 23, 1926 as well as from 3 February to 23 November 1927, he served as President of the State of Baden and Head of the cabinets I and Trunk Trunk II.

Well due to the death of his wife and a certain political apathy he retired back to 1930 from all public offices and mandates. On April 23, 1936 Gustav Trunk died of uremia. It is located in the cemetery in Baden -Baden buried.

He was still working as a lawyer in addition to his political work. He often represented Baden farmer associations.
