Gustave Danneels

Gustave Danneels ( born September 6, 1913 in Loos -en- Gohelle, † 13 April 1976 in Knokke ) was a Belgian racing cyclist.

Gustave Danneels was a professional cyclist from 1934 to 1946 during which time he was twice -. 1934 and 1935 - third at the Road World Championships. Three times (1934, 1936 and 1937) he won the race Paris -Tours, which is why he was given the nickname " Parijs -Tours sir " in his home country. Three times he was also Belgian road champion, once already as a junior.

In 1936, Danneels was the first cyclist to award the " Yellow Ribbon ", which had been awarded to the driver who achieved the fastest average speed in a classic over 200 km of track longer. In 1943 he won jointly with Albert Buysse rail competition Prix Dupré - Lapize in Paris.

Danneels is the uncle of racer and Wilfried Reybrouck and Guido, who also won three times Paris -Tours in 1964, 1996 and 1968.
